抄録: The aim of this study is to examine postural control in situations that feature a large disturbance to active movement. Pushing strength was measured by using a device with a lever that could be pushed forward when operated by a subject. Differing degrees of predictability of the postural disturbance (movement of the lever) were investigated for ten subjects under the following four conditions of pushing movement while in a standing position: under the "known" condition (disturbance was a probability of 50%), the subject was informed of the lever movement in advance; under the "unknown" condition (disturbance was a probability of 25%, 50% and 75%), the subject was not informed of the lever movement. Under both condition, the data of 12 trials of movable task (lever moved) and stationary task (lever not moved) was collected in random order. Subjects were instructed to push the lever forcefully and as quickly as possible in response to a visual stimulus, and to regain their standing posture if the lever moved. The changes in posture, EMG (TB, BB, BF, RF, G and TA) and applied force observed during each task were recorded, and the following results were obtained. 1) Forward displacement of the head, shoulder, hip and knee showed no difference under three unknown conditions in both task. 2) The EMG pattern of four conditions (the known condition and the three unknown conditions) was similar in movable task. On the other hand, in the Stationary task, only the pattern of three unknown conditions was similar. 3) The amount of applied force in stationary task showed no difference under three unknown conditions. The result of this study clearly shows that, when the prediction to the disturbance is uncertain, 1) the CNS selects a motor program that gives priority to postural stability over the demanded movement, and 2) movement is accomplished based on the motor program to which a final output is corresponding, regardless of the probability of disturbance.
