抄録: In this study, we investigated the efficient and quick strategy to catch a ball bounding irregularly by analyzing the prediction of bouncing area and catching movement. Thirteen subjects preformed predicting the bouncing area after the falling ball grounded and catching it quickly. Both tasks were performed under conditions of two kinds of balls: the ruggedness ball that bounces irregularly and the usual ball that bounces right above. We analyzed the correction of predicting the bouncing area and performance of catching the bouncing ball. As a result, there was no correlation in the correction of prediction in bouncing area and the success or failure of catching a bouncing ball. Depending on the bouncing area, however, it was suggested that subjects adjusted a movement commencement according to the area because of the relation between the time until approving prediction and the movement initiation time. In addition, the higher subject in the success rate of catching task ran in the approximately linearly course from the starting position to the catching area despite of a longer time until approving prediction and a slower time of movement commencement. These results suggested that the efficient and quick strategy to catch a ball bounding irregularly was to collect the information about a ball as many as possible and run quickly in the straight line course from the starting position to the catching area.
